Read Hebrews 9 before reading this devotional!
"So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation."
Hebrews 9:28 NKJV
Over this past month, we have been talking about the topic of revelation, through the funnel of apocalyptic exposure. Speaking on matters concerning the promotion that comes from revelation, and how we are to become the revelation. But today I want to talk about what revelation really requires: that is sacrifice.
Sacrifice is defined in the Oxford dictionary as “an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure.”
So when we describe the word sacrifice, place it into this context.
When looking at the totality of the book of Hebrews, we see that the writer is encouraging the believers of that time to persevere in their faith and not to return to their old customs. Its primary theme is the absolute supremacy and deity (divine status) of Christ over all else. Man-performed religious services, laws, and sacrificial systems are not the preferred modality by which God produces revelation. But it is by His one and only Son.
You see, the priests of the time, had to offer up sacrifices (without blemish) on the altar of God in order to serve and minister to the Lord and so that the death of the animal, the shedding of blood, may relieve the necessary punishment of the sins of the people—at that specific time. Through this system, it was symbolic of the present time, “in which both gifts and sacrifices cannot make him who performed the service perfect, in regard to conscience, but only with flesh” (Hebrews 9:9-10).
But this was necessary for the people at the time, that we could receive proper revelation today. That without a proper sacrifice in place, without proper blood we would just be running in circles.
And what do we see, that past this previous covenant, that Christ came, to offer Himself as that proper sacrifice so that we may receive proper revelation. This revelation that would allow us to shine our light upon the world. This revelation that would make known to the world and to other believers that even your fruitful works will not save you, but it is only by the blood, of THE sacrifice, that we have this revelation.
For this reason, it’s why I decided to talk about THE sacrifice required for revelation. This sacrifice that was offered once on our behalf, for us to receive the knowledge required for apocalyptic exposure.
Lift your eyes upon the only sacrifice that could provide the revelation we seek. Lay down all of your works, all that you know, and all that you have before the altar of God. That is now your sacrifice required for Christ’s sacrifice to take full effect in your life: a conditional promise.
Lay down your flesh before God and declare and decree that you will pick up your cross, ascribed as that daily sacrifice. Our mission is to be set apart, called of Jesus’ inheritance, called to be messengers of his word. Don’t take this mission lightly because without that “shedding of blood” (daily sacrifice) we have no forgiveness of sins.
“And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” - Hebrews 9:22
Without remission, there is no revelation. And without revelation, we are a people stagnant, and stuck in our ways of blindness. But be full of light! Be full of sight before the Father. I declare, as you engage, and lean onto the sacrifice of Christ, that revelation may come before you like never before. That you will know the glory of God in His fullness. I prophesy this in the name of Jesus.
“For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
Romans 11:36 NIV

Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice!
