Meditation For The Week:

“Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Introduction:

This was the time when Solomon was rebuilding the temple and he and the priests were offering sacrifices unto God.

Often times if not maybe all times when God destroys a place because of disobedience, worshipping idols, etc…it is not mere destruction it is realignment. God doesn’t just destroy something without a purpose, He does it so that His standard can be reinstituted into the lives of His people.

If your life feels catastrophic maybe it’s not the devil attacking you, maybe it’s God trying to get you back where you need to be in Him. And in fact, BETTER.

And this is why Solomon and the other priests had to rebuild the temple and sacrifice the way they did. It was the only He and the people of God can be in alignment.

When offering sacrifices that are pleasing to God, God often responds with first by consuming the burnt offering then manifests His glory as seen in the previous chapter or as early in this chapter.

Some sacrifices that we can take from this text is prayer, seeking the face of God, humbleness(Psalms 51:17), our conduct(Romans 12:1),

When we choose to do these things, God will then respond. It is conditional. God will not if man will not.

So, for our theme this month. We know that to get a revelation and even to get an interpretation, one of the factors we must have is to be intimate with the Father. We see what happened to Solomon in verse 12 when God appeared to Him and spoke to Him after he was done praying and offering sacrifices to God. Prayer is not merely conversation, it’s a tool for man to be aligned with God, a transaction between the man and God. We must only sacrifice what God wants because it is the only way He can restore order back to the man. If God can't accomplish His will through a man, He can't restore order to the man.

Repent, and the truth will be revealed.
