Read Daniel 5 before reading this devotional

Our theme for the month has been We Won’t Just See, But Interpret. We have touched a little on Jeremiah and Daniel, which is where I will continue to expand on.

In Daniel 5, God uses a hand to write a message onto the wall to Belshazzar, warning him of what would be done to him and the kingdom. The king called upon the magicians, soothsayers, and Babylonians to interpret, but no one could.

They were all aware of the writing, but did not have divine connection or access to the Holy Spirit to interpret.

When you put yourself in alignment with God, He will not only show you, but reveal to you the mysteries of the kingdom (Matthew 13:11). While reveal and show are synonymous, they are not the same in definition. Reveal implies uncovering, or making something known that was previously secret, hidden, or unknown. Show is a more general term for displaying, pointing out, or presenting something to view.

God can SHOW anybody a sign. However, those that are closest to Him have a specific level of access that allows revelation.

Then scripture mentions that the queen announced there was a man who had the Holy Spirit and the gift of understanding, wisdom, and interpretation. This was Daniel, who was the master of the magicians. Daniel made the interpretation for the king, which showed that he would lose his kingdom, and it eventually came to pass.

How was Daniel able to receive the interpretation? In Daniel 6, the Bible says that Daniel would get into a position of prayer (on his knees) three times a day while giving thanks before God. Daniel was consistently tapped into the presence of God!

Our relationship with God is like Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi uses radio waves between your device and a router (like a wireless, invisible cable to the internet). With our relationship with God, we have a connection that we cannot see, but are still able to communicate when both ends are ready to be paired.

When the queen realized no one could interpret, she knew Daniel could because of the Spirit inside him and the fruit he produced (Matthew 7:16). She knew his words could be trusted.

Like Joseph, Daniel’s interpretations led him to being promoted in the natural. Both were clothed in fine linen and honor because of the Spirit inside of them, and because God trusted them.

The reality is God wants to reveals things to us but He can’t trust us enough. Trust is built through spending time with Him! So let us be intentional with Him because as we spend more time with Him the more He reveals things to us.
