Revelation Leads to Promotion

Read 2 Kings 6

Before we break down the scripture let's define the word revelation. Revelation is the consequence of spending time and effort in abiding in the secret place. Now the word consequence here is not a negative object; rather, it is used as a way to describe the cause-and-effect relationship between your actions.

In 2 Kings 6, we saw that Elisha was given a revelation of conversation while not being physically present. In fact, he heard about the plans before they were even coming to pass. He was able to warn the king of Israel of the Syrian king’s intent, but the enemy king found out about Elisha’s revelation and help.

How was Elisha able to do this? When you have a strong divine connection with God, He will show you things you’ve never experienced before. You will walk in realms of the supernatural and perform supernatural acts that you never thought you could do. Like Joseph, you can interpret dreams. Like Paul, the touching of your garments can lead to miracles. Like Jesus, you can bring the dead back to life.

I need us to understand that in order to access great revelation, we need to also access belief in ourselves. It’s really only a matter of believing in yourself and believing that God can use you to do these things, too. I pray, that God will expose the doubt, fear, and lack of confidence we are hiding behind so that we can fully walk into what He has called us to.

The reality is the Lord wants us to experience deep levels of intimacy with Him. However, we just have to lock in and take the leap of faith.

Backtracking to these same verses, we can see that Elisha exposed the king of Syria’s plan to warn the king of Israel, that was retaliated against. This is evidence that when we carry out the will of God, the enemy will come at you in retaliation for disrupting his plans evil plans.

But what is our theme for the year? The Year Of Disruption. We must become disruptors!

Jesus tells us in Luke 10:19

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Jesus did not reveal this to us so that we can sit on this information. But He gave it to us to know and to understand that this form of revelation is about how our identity is rooted in Him to become effective disruptors. Elisha knew that the army was coming for him, but he did not run or hide. For he trusted in Jehovah Nissi (the Lord is our banner), and the army of the Lord to surround him and give him victory.

With that being said, revelation should be the very principal reason for pulling us out of hiding and becoming disruptors. Without moving on what God speaks to us (or shows us), we stay complacent and comfortable. And in comfort, there cannot be any meaningful growth. From now on, I want us to acknowledge this–that acting on the revelation is the key to promotion and growth in the spirit, to these heavenly high places. And acting on the revelation is the key to becoming an effective disruptor.

Amen! We must act on the revelation we get from God and don’t cower when retaliation comes.
