Battle of the Altars Introduction

1 Kings 18 NLT

²³ Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. ²⁴ Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.

Wow. We are already at the end of the eighth month in the Year of Disruption, and we are quickly approaching the ninth. New beginnings are already here, and we are preparing to give birth to them.

The next topic we study will be our final topic for the Year of Disruption. After this, we will reveal and prophetically begin teaching our brand-new theme for 2027. Although every topic we have covered this year has been important, I believe this one is paramount as we transition.

I need you to hear me as a spiritual leader: you need to lock in. A failure to do so could result in you missing critical foundations that God wants you to build upon later. Why repeat a season that you could have mastered the first time?

The theme of this fast is “The Battle of the Altars.” It is taken from 1 Kings 18, where Elijah challenged the demonic, idolatrous worship of Baal and rebuilt the altar of the Lord that had been broken down. Elijah declared war, but he understood that his greatest weapon was his consecration and sacrifice. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong hold (2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV). We continue trying to fight spiritual battles through natural means, and strongholds have persisted as a result.

God does not disrupt you for His entertainment. He disrupts you for your correction. Without correction, your spirituality remains corrupted. Every difficulty, pain, hurt, and shock you experienced was supposed to autocorrect something in you. I am not ignoring the progress you have made; I am challenging your comfort with minor alteration. We are called into a lifestyle of consistent, total transformation. Why are you ignoring the little leaven when a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Please understand that I am first in line for every message God sends through me.

The reality is that many of us would have joined the Battle of the Altars in 1 Kings 18 on the wrong side. There is a reason Elijah believed he was the only one standing for God. Jesus speaks about two roads in Matthew 7: one is broad and crowded, while the other is narrow, with few who truly find it. The majority is not pursuing God simply because many have His name in their mouths.

Everybody likes building memorials, but few are willing to truly build altars. Before preparing for this study, I thought memorials and altars were essentially the same thing. They are not. If you are anything like me, do not fear—we will learn and grow together.

Before you decide whether to join this fast or simply keep up with the teachings if your schedule does not permit you to fast, I need you to understand what you are signing up for.

Over the course of the next seven days, we will:

1. Study the biblical pattern and impact of altars throughout Scripture chronologically.

2. Discover what an altar truly is and identify the requirements for building one according to the Lord’s standards.

3. Expose the dangers of demonic altars and identify where they may unknowingly exist in our lives.

4. Declare war against the idolatrous desires of our flesh—and WIN!
