Welcome to Day Eight of the ’26 Disruption Consecration! Eight represents new beginnings. Let this be your note that you are stepping into something new.

Yesterday, we spoke about restoring the proper order of your mind. Today will be a part 2 because I ran out of space!

Today's meditation verses are:

Colossians 2:16-18 NLT

16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.18 Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud,19 and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been fasting with us, especially those who are new and those who joined the fast later than others. It is truly better late than never. Please know that this ministry is not simply about teaching you something. It is about ensuring you become something: a well-informed, developed, and ultimately demonstrative Kingdom citizen. This is not about merely hearing words, but about becoming who God is calling you to be.

In today’s meditation verses, Paul references one of the many metaphors for the church. The church is the ecclesia, the governing body of believers, also known as Kingdom citizens. The metaphor he uses is the body of Christ. For some, this concept may be new. For others, it may be review. I want to take time to summarize it in order to make today’s point clear.

The body of Christ demonstrates that we are all different people with different functions, yet we work together to form one entity. The body should never be divided. Every part does not have to look the same or perform the same task to fulfill one purpose. Consider your own body. Whether it is your foot, your hand, your heart, or any other part, every part exists to do one thing: execute what the head decides to do. Christ is the head of the body. He makes the decisions. We, as individual members, are meant to work together to carry out those decisions.

Imagine what the body would be like without a head. Each part would lack direction and ultimately lack what is necessary to function as it was designed. You would never leave the house with your head at home. In the same way, why do we as members of Christ’s body make moves without remembering our Head?

As I write this devotional, I have been a married woman for 24 hours. Something shifted when we made our vows. I was no longer independent. My husband became my head. Because of that, I have been moving differently. Every decision now requires consideration and acknowledgment of his leadership. If you have a leader, you cannot make decisions without regard for that leader. Your body does nothing without receiving signals from your brain. In the same way, the church, as members of Christ’s body, should do nothing without acknowledging and responding to the signals of Christ, our Head.

What if the issue is not that you are ignoring your Head, but that you have stopped allowing Christ to be your Head altogether? Just as Christ gives signals, the devil gives signals as well. Independence is an illusion. If you were created to be part of a body, someone will lead you. Scripture tells us that the devil has blinded the minds of the world. The word world refers to cosmos, meaning order or system. Those who live according to this system, rather than the Kingdom, are not necessarily headless. They are Christless in their thinking, because the enemy has taken control of their minds and now signals their decisions.

Many people do not realize that when we take communion and Jesus says, “Do this in remembrance of me,” He is not merely calling us to recall a memory. He is calling us to rejoin Him. To re-member is to become a part again. When Peter resisted having his feet washed, Jesus responded, “Unless I wash you, you have no part in me.” In other words, unless you submit to the way I lead and signal as the Head, you cannot function as part of my body. Body parts cannot operate independently from the head. In John 6, Jesus emphasizes eating His flesh and drinking His blood as a way to remain in Him. Remembrance restores connection. Memory maintains unity.

Many people are doing destructive things in the name of Jesus. Before his transformation, Paul persecuted Christians while believing he was serving God. In Colossians, Paul later warns of people who claim Christ but are not truly connected to Him. They are led by a sinful, carnal mind rather than the Head. Claiming God does not mean you are taking cues from Christ.

Have you left your Head on the table and walked away without Him? Examine your life and your recent decisions. Ask yourself honestly: who signaled them?

In the name of Jesus, we repent of forsaking our Head. We remember our Head. We reconnect to Christ. We choose to take our cues from Him alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen
